Ann Sherif<\/strong> (Professor, East Asian Studies) has a PhD in Japanese Literature from the University of Michigan. She was the Co-Principal Investigator of the LIASE Exploratory Grant and is currently the Co-Director of the LIASE Implementation Grant. Her publications include Japan’s Cold War: Literature, Media, and the Law<\/em> (Columbia University Press). At Oberlin, Sherif teaches a First-Year Seminar on “Nature and the Environment in Asia” and is a member of the Environmental studies committee.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chie Sakakibara<\/strong> (Assistant Professor, East Asian Studies and Environmental Studies) is a cultural geographer (Ph.D. University of Oklahoma), and also has her academic background in art history, anthropology, and Indigenous studies. Her teaching and research interests lie in the field of the human dimensions of global environmental change among indigenous peoples in North America, Circumpolar Arctic, and East Asia, specifically on their cultural resilience and socio-environmental justice.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
